A MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR

My Dear Parishioners,

I take this opportunity to wish all of you a Blessed Holy Week and Easter. What a difference a year makes! Last year all of our Paschal events were cancelled. Still, I am very pleased that we at St. Francis have done the best we could to continue pastoral services. Last Holy Week our church was beautifully decorated for the season and the building was open for opportunities for private prayer. We began communion services when that was feasible last spring and since masses were allowed again, we have offered our normal weekend mass schedule. We celebrated first communion and confirmation during the summer and have scheduled in-house religious education classes as permitted. We gathered for the Christmas season in style and scheduled weddings and funerals with proper social distancing and masks.

During the past year our parish office has not been closed for even one day because of the pandemic. (Thank you to the St. Francis Xavier Staff!) We have all strived to continue parish life as normally as possible and again I thank the good Lord for that.

Now we come to another Holy Week and Easter. We have a full schedule of timely events, including an additional Mass (7 AM) on Easter Sunday. The church will be fully decorated. We continue social distancing and the wearing of masks, but the liturgical life of the parish is strong and vibrant. So, plan to attend Holy Week and Easter Services and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

In closing I would advise all parishioners to get vaccinated when you are able. I received both shots and had very little reaction. Freedom comes with the vaccine, so please do not hesitate to have your shots.

A Blessed Easter to all!
