This weekend we welcome Fr. William Fider as our celebrant.

Fr. Fider is a retired priest from the Diocese of Duluth.


“RAISE US UP” CAMPAIGN UPDATE – GREAT NEWS! Construction is in progress on the new elevator and parish hall renovation! With God’s help the entire project will be completed by late October. Please keep in mind:

- Daily Mass will be held in the Garden Room (5th Street side of building).

- The 4th Street Parish Hall Entrance and the 24th Ave E Avenue side entrance are temporarily closed. Please use other entrances to the facility.

- Parish hall bathrooms are under construction and temporarily closed. Please use available restrooms behind the kitchen area. Please follow the signs in the hall to the bathrooms.

- We reached our fund raising goal in pledges!! Our goal was $450,000. A reminder to please continue your payments on pledges. Payment envelopes are available in the blue baskets in the gathering space of the church.

ST. FRANCIS PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL met recently. Copies of the minutes are available on the table in the gathering space.

ST. FRANCIS ALTAR SOCIETY will meet this week on Thursday, October 4th at 1 PM in the Garden Room. Hostesses for the afternoon will be Jane Prochazka & Barbara Carey. All ladies of the parish are welcome!!!

CATHOLIC SERVICES APPEAL Thank you for filling out a Catholic Services Appeal Envelope. For those who did not fill one out, please do so before you leave church today. No gift is too small, and our parish is trying to reach 100% participation. By making your gift today you can save a volunteer from having to call you saving time and expense. We have raised $12,420.00 toward our CSA goal. There are many challenges facing us today. The responsibility our parish has to help provide diocesan and services and ministries such as support for vocations and education of seminarians in an answer to that challenge.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION SCHEDULE & INFORMATION:

GRADES K-5 Classes begin next Sunday, October 7th at 9:15 AM until 10:15 AM. Students may register at the 5th Street entrance. A parents’ meeting will take place at 9:30 AM in the parish hall. Coffee/rolls served.

Tuesday, October 9th Adult Formation 9:30 AM & 7:00 PM – Gospel of John.

Wednesday, October 10th Opening night for middle and high school students begins at 7:00 PM – 8:15 PM in the parish hall. “DARE 2 MOVE”

Thursday, October 11th Catholicism 101 for RE Parents – 7:00 PM

Saturday, October 13th First Middle School Youth Group Meeting – 9:00 AM

Please note: We are in need of a 9th grade teacher and aide for the 9th grade. Please consider volunteering in one of these positions. Call Ernie for more information at 715-398-7175.


“BOOK & BAKE” SALE

The St. Francis Altar Society is sponsoring a “Book & Bake” Sale on Saturday, October 20th and Sunday, October 21st following all Masses. Have any books you would like to donate?

They may be brought to the parish office (October 8-18) any day, Monday-Thursday. (Please, no encyclopedias.) Your delicious homemade baked items can be brought to the parish hall after 3 PM on Saturday, October 20th. If you have any questions or would like more information call Marilee at 715-399-8252.


CATHEDRAL SCHOOL NEWS There are employment opportunities for kitchen and preschool aides. Please send a cover letter and resume to Mrs. Jaime Samarziya at 1419 Baxter Avenue, Superior, WI or email to j.samarziya@superiorcathedralschool.org. Applications will be accepted until filled. We are also in need of substitute teachers.

Blessing of pets (all shapes and sizes) on October 3rd on the Cathedral Church steps at 8:05 AM followed by the all-school Mass. SAVE THE DATE: November 3rd – Annual Dinner Auction.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS, COUNCIL 499 will meet on Tuesday, October 2nd at St. Anthony Parish Hall – 6:30 PM Rosary and 7:00 PM meeting. (Note new venue.)
